How do I join?

Freemasons do not solicit membership, but we are always willing to talk to men who are interested in joining us or in learning more about us before pursuing membership. To become a Freemason, you must ask a Freemason. Your sincere interest in joining the fraternity is the essential first step in seeking membership. There are also a number of qualifications for membership in the craft.

  • Be a Man – Freemasonry is a Fraternity, and as such is open to men.
  • Of Mature Age – A Freemason must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Of Strict Morals – A Freemason is a man of high moral character – not perfect by any means, but ever aspiring to improve as a man. The trust and fraternal bond we share presupposes a firm ethical foundation, which each Freemason is invited to build upon with the tools he gains during his membership in the Craft.
  • Affirm belief in a Supreme Being – Freemasonry is not a religion, but the craft presupposes a belief in a supreme being at its very foundations. Freemasonry does not hold an opinion on what religious or spiritual belief you hold – we are open to all faiths and spiritual paths, so long as you can honestly affirm belief in a Supreme Being.

If you have a family member or friend who is a Freemason, and you are interested in joining, by all means, ask them! If, however, you do not know of any Freemasons in your life, and are interested in joining Lewis Lodge, our membership would be happy to talk more with you. Contact us using the form below, and we will be glad to start the conversation.

Let us know if you have any questions about joining, or, if you would like to start the conversation about joining.
